O-Town Compost Comes To East Orlando
Shockingly, Americans waste about a pound of food per day, meaning that the average household generates around four pounds per day. O-Town Compost’s mission is to provide Orlando residents with a solution to this hard-to-avoid problem with our Residential Service. It’s a door-to-door service set to allow busy people to make the right choice and avoid sending their valuable organics to the landfill. Just like Trash and Recycling Day, you have O-Town Compost Day, where we’ll come swap out your bucket for a clean one, and take your food waste back to be turned into finished compost. Don’t feel bad anymore if you want to throw out grandma’s casserole!
Twice a year, our customers receive 10 pounds of premium O-Town Black Gold, a.k.a. our nutrient-rich compost, which your plants are guaranteed to love. If you’re not really into gardening, or lack a back yard, you can donate it to local food projects, like Fleet Farming, who do an awesome job at growing local fresh food. O-Town Compost both sells and donates its additional compost to Orlando food growers, but it can’t be done without a steady feedstock coming from you, the customers!
As the Community Composting Movement gains traction around the county, O-Town Compost is stepping into the fray with laser-focus on collecting and hauling organic waste. Whether it’s Suncoast Compost in Tampa, FL, Rust Belt Riders in Cleveland, OH, or Bootstrap Compost in Boston, MA, we are all committed to our city go zero waste. The City of Orlando has an ambitious goal of diverting 90% of their waste by 2040, but currently doesn’t have the infrastructure in place to achieve that mark. It’s our objective at O-Town Compost to fill that need, and create a sustainable supply of compost for local agriculture projects.
